Swinging and Safe Sex

So far we are new to the whole swinging lifestyle. It's been interesting so far and we definitely could get into it for the foreseeable future.
But safe sex? It's a thing that is required when we play with others. We're here to have fun, not contract something or end up pregnant. The pill is not an option for me, unfortunately. The hormones get too messed up and reacts with other medication. Either way, it's clearly stated in our profile that condoms are required. There's just no way around it.
I've had people that we wanted to play with, just stop talking once I brought up the subject. I honestly was kind of offended.
There's already a lot of logistical planning involved because we're not going to invite people we just met into our home. Safe sex seems to be becoming another obstacle. I'm trying not to be rude about it, but I feel like if I don't get it out in the open right away, then I'm just wasting everyone's time. This is supposed to be fun after all. Is there a better way to bring it up? As it is, if someone contacts us and doesn't have a picture, that's usually question #1. Is condoms going to have to be question #2?
