Moving the webcam again

Exceeding few people ever watch my webcam on Alt and VisionPersonals.com. A small part of it is that the latter has restricted viewing webcams to paying members only. The bigger part of it is that I don't put on any "shows". I just turn the camera on and proceed to live my life.
Over the past couple of years, I've alternated between setting up the cam right off of my monitor, giving a close-up of my face, and putting it on a shelf, giving a wide view. I'm back to the wide view.

Football season

If I'm counting correctly, this will be the fourth year where I watch every NFL game. As usual, by "watch", I mean to have an NFL game playing on my computer or one TV while I play a video game on another. During this time of year, I try to stick to the games that have little action and where I don't need to listen to the background music. The political-military simulations, tactical RPGs, and console RPGs tend to fit the bill nicely. I'm currently playing "Dark Wizard" on the Sega CD, and I'm thinking about playing "Final Fantasy Tactics" on the Playstation next.
I still haven't found anyone who'd like to share that lifestyle with me. Then again, I also haven't been looking very hard. Alt and VisionPersonals.com are dying out. The decision of Various.com to restrict sending AND receiving messages to standard members only is a big part of that. Also, VisionPersonals.com has restricted camera watching to paying members. It might be time to move to something else. I've poked around a bit on Chaturbate, but I don't get nude on camera, so I feel like a faker when I'm on there. I'm not sure what I'll try next.

Most things are going well

It's been a while since I posted a blog entry to Alt or VisionPersonals.com. This is also the first time I've posted to Fetlife.
I have a lot going for me right now. My new job is going well. My commute is now a relatively-short walk, which gives close to two hours back every work day. I'm in good health, aside from a potential cold that may be coming on. One of the perks of my new job is access to a variety of snacks, which means that I basically don't buy any food during the work week.
The biggest negatives I have going right now are that I'm overweight (240 pounds) and I have no dating prospects. Perhaps, in distant third place, is the fact that I still live in a very small condo.
I'm going to try to get out more. In particular, there is a once-a-month game night at the Center for Sex Positive Culture. Twice I've planned to go, and twice I've cancelled due to potential illness. I'll just have to reload and try again next month.
Alt and VisionPersonals.com have been in bad shape over the past year or so. It's their own fault. Recently, they turned off reading and replying to messages for non-paying members. I'm sure there are more ridiculous things that a dating site can do, but only because there is always something more ridiculous. If I were a paying member and sending a message, I'd definitel want the other party to read it, whether that party was paying for membership or not.
Unfortunately, there aren't any other sex-dating sites that have both the population and free camming. I've been in the habit of having my webcam on for years now. It is somewhat surprising how many people thanked me for not having a cock cam like everyone else. It was a really good conversation-starter and I'd like to return to that kind of interaction. If only there were a site that would allow that. Also, wouldn't it be fucking awesome to have a sex-dating site whose instant messenger doesn't quietly drop my cam without telling me?

I don't know how many people know about this album. I won't really talk about the album itself, but about my life and how this album fit into it. (Honestly, that sounds deeper than I intend it to be.)
When I was living in a college dorm, I participated in an Easter-egg hunt put together by whoever ran the dorm. I got out early and got most of the eggs, in retaliation for someone doing that the year before. Amongst the prizes were a bunch of CDs which, taken as a group, were obviously from the bargain bin. This was one of those CDs.
After listening to the start of a few of them, I pronounced them garbage and proceeded to give them to my Dad, who needed something to feed the CD player in his new truck. A little bit later, I was driving with him, and some nice songs were playing. I asked, "What is this?" He replied, "This is one of the CDs you gave me." D'oh!
I managed to borrow it a lot for a few years after that. Then I sort-of forgot about it, as I was able to build my own music collection. Then, last week, as I was perusing (looking over or through in a casual or cursory manner) the stock of a thrift store, I happen to see a copy of this CD. I bought it, and I'm listening to it as I write this (current track: #4, "I'm Above").
So, this is where things get deeper. I had, shall we say, "social issues" in middle school and high school. I used college, among other things, to help stabilize my personality after all of that suffering. This CD, especially the song "River of Deceit", was a significant part of that recovery.
Here are some of the lyrics of that song which stood out to me:
"My pain is self-chosen"
"...cut off my pride, and buy some time"
"Now I can grow a beautiful shell for all to see"
I thought that last one was a little awkward, especially because there is a beat between "beautiful" and "shell" I thought it should be, "Now I can grow a pretty shell, for everyone to see".
Anyway, listening to these songs again, probably for the first time in fifteen years or so, is creating a lot of recollections and providing some perspective.

I haven't been posting blog entries lately for many reasons. In the top three is the reason that I haven't thought of any good ideas for pictures.
I was sitting on the sidewalk while waiting for the bus this morning. I thought to myself, 'I look like a beggar, except I don't need money. So, what would I need?'

Yes, I know that it is a generation out-of-date. But, hey! I so rarely get NEW video-game systems. My two previous most-recent acquisitions were a $5 Nintendo DS with a cracked hinge and an original XBox that I put together from parts of two broken XBox systems.

That's a bit of the Engrish that was on the back of the packaging for my new "mobile holder" (that's what it says on the packaging). This handy little device just barely holds my phone in place, so I can once again take pictures that don't look like selfies.
And before you say that I need to clean my bathroom mirror, I have to say that's completely untrue!
...

Micromanagement

Take this as me blowing off steam, although it would be nice if any middle managers who happen to read this can take it as a lesson.
I was informed today that, in addition to all of my other responsibilities and work items, I now have to write an e-mail of a couple of sentences describing my current status and what I'm working on. Sounds simple, straightforward, and innoculous, right?
Except that this is for my boss's boss's boss. Except that I already have to write a weekly e-mail for my boss's boss. Except that I attend stand-up meetings three times a week to verbally deliver this information to my boss and teammates. Except that I have to manage work items in an online system for my boss, the program managers, and the program managers' boss. Except that I have to talk to those work items in another meeting every two weeks for those people, too.
So, it's a completely redundant, yet independent, channel for delivering the same information. Yet, that's not the worst part.
The worst part is the insult. It's an insult to my boss and my boss's boss that my boss's boss's boss doesn't think they can do their jobs without direct oversight. That they are so incompetent that my boss's boss's boss can, from ~20 daily e-mails, determine the right approach and make their individual contributors more efficient. That my boss's boss's boss cannot trust the chain-of-command to deliver this information.
And it is an insult to me. Because I'm apparently so stupid, inefficient, and incompetent, that I need my boss's boss's boss to know what I am doing daily. That somehow my boss's boss's boss will see something vital that I, my boss, and my boss's boss don't. That I'm too stubborn to listen to the advice of anyone around me who might also see those things.
As much as there is a no-retaliation policy where I work, and as much as I believe in it and I believe that these people believe in it, I am afraid of saying all of this to my boss's boss's boss. Not that I think this person would be vindictive. I have found, however, that these people want to fix any problems that come their way. And this person could interpret my message as "being unhappy". Which means that this person would try to "fix" it. I expect that, in trying to solve the problem, this person could very easily and inadvertently make it worse. After all, look at the "solution" this person chose to deal with a management problem?

I took a sick day yesterday (Friday). I spent much of that day going in and out of sleep. I think I'm feeling better now. I hope to be operational again in time for Monday.
I'm at 235 pounds right now. A few days ago, I was at 240. Um, fever diet? I don't think that particular fad will catch on.
I could use more fruit in my diet. Fruit is very filling for its calories. I just wish cherries were in season all year. I also wish oranges an tangerines were easier to peel. Or maybe I wish I had someone to peel them for me?

Different camera angle

Over the past few weeks, I've been using my netbook to broadcast. Rather than using the built-in camera, I've set up a camera high up on the shelf. The camera has a clip, but it creates some rotation in the shot. For those of you who remember the Adam West Batman, just think of me as a ridiculous supervillain.
Meanwhile, Bumbershoot is this weekend. For those who don't know, this is an uber-concert held at the Seattle Center where a bunch of bands play at the same time, all weekend. I'm ... not a fan of live music. Or loud noise. Or crowds. I think I'm staying inside all weekend. I just hope I remember to load up on groceries first.
Speaking of groceries, I've been in the 230-235 pound range this past month. I've gotten my exercise up, often getting more than three hours on my pedal exerciser each day. Unfortunately, I've been eating about 4,000 calories a day, too, so it evens out. If I could just bring my food intake down... Perhaps if I had something to do besides eating....
