A NEW YEAR is upon us!

It's that time of year when we bid farewell to 2014, and welcome in 2015.
It's that time of year when we reflect back and look forward.

In 2014:
I made others laugh, smile, and dance.
I laughed, I smiled, and I danced with them.

I had good times, with old friends.
I had good times with new friends.

I've learned new things, and relearned some old things.
I discovered new places, and visited some old familiar places.

My heart was filled with joy, with the arrival of a grand !
I've marveled at the infinite beauty found within a single rose!

.

For 2015:

As I look forward to the journey ahead, I have these simple hopes:
May it continue to be filled with all of what I've had in 2014!

May I find a rose each day, and think of you!

.
.

I'll close this with a simple New Year's thought for all of you:

2015 is yet a blank page.
Fill it, with all your hopes and dreams.

Once again, it's the Holidays,
that delightful time of year,
When hearts are filled with gratitude,
and homes are bright with cheer.

A season for remembering
our friends and loved ones, too.
So these thoughts and best wishes
Go out to all of you!

May your home be filled
with happiness and laughter,
your hearts with love and joy,
and all your days be merry.
This season, and always.

May you find someone special,
waiting under the mistletoe!

The night of the most darkness for some,
yet the day of the most light for others!
Opposite, yet joined together.

In the quiet still of night,
we lay down our weary souls
to rest and recharge our spirits.
A time to dream.

In the day, the mighty sun
fills us with vigor and energy
We work, we play, we create.
We build that dream.

Let us light a candle, a beacon of hope,
shining brightly into the night.

May we always dream.
May they all come true.

I think of you!

Each delicate petal,
with its subtle hues of color,
and nuances in the play of light,
is yet another fascinating facet of you!

And, like a rose,
your beauty is preserved for eternity;
forever pressed within
the pages of my memory!

This time of year is set aside to take measure of all the blessings we have in our lives, and be thankful for them.

One of the things I'm thankful for are all the wonderful friends I've met here!
May your Life always be a bountiful feast!

And, ummmm,....because turkey is the customary fare at the dinner table for this celebration, ...
I'm also thankful I'm not a turkey right about now!!!!

At the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, in 1918, World War I came to an end.

This day is set aside to remember all those who have served, both past and present.
Let us respect and honor them all.

I walked along the trail in the woods, enjoying the serenity and harmony of all around me. The sound of the rushing water blended in accord with the chorus of the woodland creatures. I turned a bend on the trail, and found a surprise.
There, she sat on the bank of the stream, her feet splashing merrily in the running water.
The sun glistened off her moist body, droplets running along her chest from her hair, to fall gently from her firm nipples.
I watched in silence as she lay back to let the golden sun caress the perfect form of her body.
Soon, she began to shimmer and shine, becoming translucent as her being was revealed.
She slipped silently back into the water, to bring her life nourishing energies to the world.

A pink oasis in a sea of sand,
a heart that tickles the mighty sun,
a Soul that sparkles in pale moonlight!

I want to take you, hold you in my hand,
place you upon my steed and run,
riding swiftly, into the dark indigo night!

Reflecting on a Year Completed

Middle of the afternoon, sitting on my patio, cup of coffee in my hand, soaking up the sun, cool breeze blowing, gazing up at the clear blue sky, listening to the birds singing their happy songs, inhaling the scent of roses blooming.
Nothing having to be done, no where I have to be. No schedule.
Life is Good!

The 30th of Sept marks my birthday, another leg of my journey completed, another year gone by. The “smile markers” with this one have really been remarkable for me this year.

I found out I'm still not too old to learn a few things, especially about myself. Those days when we learn something are always good days. And you always have life left yet to live, while there are still things for you to learn.

I've fully recovered from an upper respiratory infection that had managed to get into my nervous system, almost putting me down in the process. Well, at least it had me doubting how long I was going to live. I've learned to never doubt the will to live. But, I've learned I'm not invincible, either, and a long life is not guaranteed; if I want to live, I have to “do” something about what ails me, when it hits.

I learned growing a beard is a real pain! It itches and scratches like crazy. Shaving it OFF, however, is an even bigger pain! I've resolved to shave once a week, whether I need it or not, ... but only once a week!

I've lost a very dear friend, but I have many many great memories of experiences we shared to sustain me. I learned that it is those experiences that are shared with friends, that are the most valuable, and most enjoyable, most meaningful.

Made it to another blogger's bash. This year it was in San Diego, and I had a blast! It gave me the chance to share with others what I find so amazing about this area of the world I call home. It made me realize just how lucky I am to be where I am, and being able to do the things I do.

I've learned to truly appreciate all the beauty around me, found in everything, every day. Just have to open my eyes and “look”, in order to see it! My photography really helps to open my eyes! Spending many hours in many museums helps there, too. I'm finding the urge to draw again.

I've been canyon cliff climbing! I went para sailing for the first time. Wow! What an exhilarating experience that was! Sailing in the clouds, so free!

I've made a few new friends, and learned just how good some of my current friends are. I've remembered to thank them for it, too. I've learned that there are some people I've become familiar with, whom I really want to have in my life, no matter what capacity it is in. Those people are simply too special to let pass on by. They are that "Rose That Grows in My Garden of Life”.

The biggest event this year is the most recent one! I have my first born grandchild!

Very good year, all in all!
Yuppers, Life is Good!
Ready to face the next year!

Only to be With You

I have climbed the highest mountains

I have run through the fields

Only to be with you
Only to be with you

I have run, I have crawled

I have scaled these city walls
These city walls

Only to be with you
Only to be with you

I long to kiss your honey lips.
Feel the healing, in your finger tips.
It burns like fire,
Burning desire

I heard your voice, that of an angel.
I reached out, with the hand of a devil.
It was cold as a stone.
Yet, you were warm in the night

You broke the bonds.
You loosed my chains.
Now I carry, carry your flame
Oh, your flame, you know I believe it

I believe the Time will come
When all the colors, bleed into one
Bleed into one

But, yes, I'm still yearning
Yearning to be with you.
Yearning to be with you.

SEX and Relationships

Perhaps it was just a coincidence, or perhaps a deliberate act by the authors, considering it was published on the day of the equinox, a balance of day and night, but there was an interesting article I read that day, dealing with :

"Sex; and its Importance Relative to Other Elements of a Relationship".

The article looked at how people currently and formerly in relationships rated the importance of the sexual, emotional, intellectual and 'mundane world' elements that go into making the foundations of their relationship, and, for lack of a better term, evaluated the "success" of those ratings, in regards to their overall happiness and satisfaction, duration of relationship, frequency of sex, etc..

The results in some areas were surprising, and in others, not so.

For instance, as expected, when sex occupied less than 25% of the over all importance, relationships generally failed in less than 5 yrs, the people were not generally happy, or healthy(!), and the pair struggled in the "at home" areas. We are, after all, sexual creatures, whether we acknowledge that element of our make-up or not. If we aren't getting it, or getting it enough, ...well, we're just not "happy campers".

But!!! And a big "But" here … there were surprising twists in some of the other findings.

First instance, when "sex" was rated at the opposite end of the spectrum, (occupying more than 75% of the overall importance), the relationships were generally of equally poor quality as those were when it was rated at less than 25%! The only major difference for those couples where sex was of high importance was that those couples had more sex, vs those couples where it wasn't important, but the sex they got still generally wasn't 100% satisfying, rewarding and fulfilling!

In fact, when sex was more than 85% of the combined importance, (one's based strictly on "chemistry and physical attraction", etc)..... those relationships were, over all, the poorest in combined satisfaction, with the relationship lasting only 2-5 yrs, in general! Emotional and intellectual needs, and some mundane world needs, were not any where close to being met by their partners.

The article found that the most successful relationships proved to be those of the couples who regarded all aspects to be of equal importance, where things were “balanced”! Those relationships lasted longer than 10 yrs; the couples were happier, both with each other and their own personal lives; individuals were healthier; and their mundane world responsibilities were more stable and rewarding as well.

And now, the most surprising result of all, and it really was quite remarkable! It pertains to the "sex" part.

For those couples where sex was considered ONLY equally important as everything else, the couples actually ended up having better sex, more often, for longer sessions, and were overwhelmingly happier and more satisfied with their sex lives! And the difference in the frequency of sex was very pronounced! 6 times vs the average 2.5 times for those couples who identified sex as the more important element, over all other facets!

It seems when one places as much emphasis on the emotional and intellectual needs of their partner, and upholds their portion of the responsibility of the mundane world, ….well....they get their own “special” rewards! And a lot of it!

Maybe sex actually becomes a celebration of the relationship, for those couples who adapt an “all things in balance” outlook, as opposed to being the reason for the relationship existing in the first place!
