Go barefoot earlier in the spring.
Stay barefoot later into the fall.
Dance more.
Ride more Merry-go-rounds and Ferris wheels.
Pick more daisies.
Watch more sunrises and sunsets.
Skinny dip more often.

Made a sojourn to the beach late last night, to catch the lunar eclipse.
Definitely a "snuggling under the beach blanket" kind of evening, the low marine layer that rolled in made it damp, and cool.

Tonight marks the beginning of the Willow Moon phase.
It is a full moon, ....
What's more, and even better, this will be a lunar eclipse in the Northern Hemisphere.
After going through the disappearing crescents of the eclipse, the moon will appear to become a huge Red Circle of Light!

The way my PC is set up, I get a lot of side banner ads from all the various tabs I visit here on A*F*F.
Recently, while in the message center, I saw this one, which I find to be more than a little alarming! (look in lower right area of picture)
Bear in mind, I already have a gold membership, so what is it that A*F*F would be wanting me to upgrade to?
Does this mean that ultimately, our friends list will be capped at 5, unless we want to pay for premium memberships?
 
This was the same type of pre-release stuff that was done prior to standard members having to pay for each profile view they made.

More Changes to Blogs Page

There appears to be many changes afoot in Blogville lately.
First, over the last couple of weeks, there was a minor tweek to the choice for viewing styles of blogs (old format vs new vs whatever).
Then, the listing for showing our "Watched Blogs" went from having our 'last visited' at the top, to showing the blogs by the 'most recent' blog post of all our watched blogs at the top. There is no way to change this listing style, either
And now, it appears that ALL of my "Watched POSTS" have up and disappeared!
Instead of seeing those individual posts which had held some special importance, significance or relevance to me, they are replaced with crap that I care nothing about!!!! And, I have NO choice on this????? Again??
On top of that, under the selections for how to display blogs, the various lists now show the message: "nothing to display" under "Random" and "Trending".
What's up? Did you A*F*F people go and break something that was actually working properly, AND was something that we users had actually wanted, .... yet again?

West Coast Blogger Bash - Highlight #3

There's a Blogger Bash planned for San Diego, Ca in July of this year; from the 10-13 (officially). As you may have guessed, there's literally tons of stuff to do in San Diego, especially in July!
If you'd like some highlights of what there is to do in San Diego, see MyNameIsKay 's blog. In the meantime, here are few more items, for variety.
Of course, there's the Sea World Exhibit.
If you are into roller coasters, Sea World's is just the beginning, for just across the channel lies Belmont Park. (not the race way).
However, if you are into racing, there is Del Mar Track, a short 20 minute, $5 USD, train ride on the Coaster. The Santa Fe Coaster station is only a few blocks from the hotel.
However, San Diego is probably best known for surfing, ... of all types!
From bogie boards to paddle boards, from wind surfing to para surfing.
Best known surf beach is Tourmaline, with a statue dedicated to "The Old Surfer"!
Oooops! How did THAT get in there??????
Well, I guess not every one surfs!
Another Zoo that we have locally is the San Diego Safari Zoo, with their butterfly conservatory! Lots of Good Vibrations here!
Well, I hope all these highlights are beginning to whet your appetites!

Blessings of the Equinox

Today is, once again, the day of the equinoxes : Spring in the Northern hemisphere, and Fall for those of you in the Southern. In the olden ways, this day is called Ostara and Mabon, respectively.
Whether you are in the North or the South, on this day, the hours of light and dark are equal, and North and South are in harmony. Yet, at the same time, they are opposites. In the North, this is a time to celebrate new beginnings, rebirth, and planting anew. In the South, it is a time for celebrating the fruits of the harvest, of reaping and gathering in, and preparing for the winter's rest. This juxtaposition between the two serves to illustrate, quite dramatically, the full cycle of Life.
The Circle of Life ... where one ends, another begins.
There are many ways to celebrate this day.
Ostara is considered a time of renewal and rebirth. Take some time to celebrate the new life that abounds around you in nature -- walk in a park, lay in the grass, hike through a forest. As you do so, observe all the new beginnings -- plants, flowers, insects, birds, mammals, fish.
Ostara :
foods and symbols : green vegetables, sprout dishes, dairy foods, eggs, the March hare
herbs and flowers : daffodil, jonquils, violet, peony, iris, narcissus
colors : blue, green, purple, pink, yellow, silver
Mabon is considered a time of the Mysteries. It is a time to gather in, and consider that which grew from tiny seeds. Take a few moments to stop, relax and enjoy the fruits of our personal harvests, whether they be from relationships that have grown, toiling in our gardens, working at our jobs, raising our families, or just coping with the hustle-bussle of everyday life.
Mabon :

On Being a Woman

Back during the 2013 Christmas to New Year holidays, I finally had the opportunity to spend a lot of “one on one” time, over the course of several weeks, with my and . Because my had been overseas, and I had retired and moved 3000 miles away from where the family roots were, it had been well over 5 yrs since we were all together that way, for any extended periods of more than just a few days for a visit/trip. Needless to say, we did a lot of re-bonding, and connecting on a close basis again.
It was good to see how much they both have grown-up over that time, and what they have become. But, more than growing “up”, I saw how they both have grown, in their life experiences. It's the kind of stuff that makes a parent proud, and makes us want to tell the whole world about them!
After the “” had left, I've told several people about our time together. Once all the usual stuff has been discussed, it inevitably gets down to my impressions of them. And THAT is the point of this post.
You see, one of the strongest impressions I was left with, after their visit, is that my , at age 26, has become a “Woman”, or better put, IS a “Woman”. Yet, when I'm asked what that description is, why, what's it based on, I'm left simply saying, “it's just a feeling”.
Yes, she's not a little girl anymore. Nor, is she just a . It's more than her having her first cycle, or her first sexual experience. But, she is also more than just a 21 yr old adult, and definitely more than just a female. It also goes beyond any sexuality issues.
Is it the maturing, and coming of age, of her physical appearance? Is it her femininity, and sensuousness? Is it the grace and elegance that she carries herself with? Is it her demure manner, all prim and proper? Try telling that to the guys she plays volleyball, basketball and tackle football with! Is it the spontaneity, and the silliness, or her free flowing, high spiritedness? Is it the assuredness and confidence she possesses? Is it her sensitivity and awareness to other people and their feelings? Or could it be tied up simply in the mundane things that she does, or the things she's attracted to...flowers, chocolate, perfume? Nahhh, it's more than that! Way more!
I'm left struggling to define exactly what in my mind and heart, makes me see her as a “woman”.
Do you have any ideas of what defines a woman, as a Woman?
