Well, I started back to school.

I hope everyone is relaxing today. Sorry for those of you that outside plans, a look at the weather map shows that much of the country is not getting weather condusive to outdoor festivities. I'm stuck inside but making the most of it.

I had a wonderful, but complicated time.
It was a spur of the moment trip, with little time to plan out the logistics. We wanted to be on the oceanfront and in close proximity to my sister-in-law's town. Internet makes planning so much easier than it was thirty years ago, but it has its difficulties. How old is the information? Are the people writing reviews of the same mind and taste as you? You get the idea.
I selected what looks like a Waldorf Astoria on the shore. I had doubts, it looked to well appointed for the locale and price. It's in Asbury Park. I'd heard of that town; Bruce Springsteen, a boardwalk, my 's friend lives a bike ride away. I didn't take into account that the "Boss" played there over thirty years ago, Sandy and time have taken a toll on the area, and my and her friend can bike great distances.
I want to begin by saying I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and relaxed. However, it was one strange set of visions. We had a 7th floor room that was indeed excellently appointed and had ocean views from both of the massive set of picture windows. There was also a view of a beautiful park, but also a worn out area that looked worn torn.
The beach was the most pristine beach I have ever set foot on. The sand was powder soft and absolutely immaculate. I consider myself a good judge, having been to beaches along both the Atlantic and Pacific coast, as well as, five Hawaiian islands and several in the Bahamas.
However, while sitting on the beach, a look back to the boardwalk was a view of a burned out convention center and theater. And, it turns out that the backside of the hotel I was in is suffering from disrepair. Windows were boarded up. I am figuring that is the result of Sandy.
There weren't any restaurants in the immediate area other than the one in the hotel. We didn't try it, instead we travelled inland toward my in-laws and met them. Which in our case, worked well.
One day we journeyed 10 miles south (or 1 hour plus) to the Point Pleasant Boardwalk. It was the traditional boardwalk that I expect. The spent a fortune on arcade games and ate junk food, while the adults settled into an open air restaurant on the beach for drinks and lunch.
There was only one thing missing from making this a perfect vacation............sex, there was no sex, none, nada, not even a tittie squeeze.
