Introvert vs Extrovert

One of my friends has recently told me I'm the least introverted person he's ever known. And my ability and even at times willingness to just walk up to a stranger and start a conversation belies my life-long belief that I'm an introvert.
Essentially: an Introvert lives inside his/her head, focuses internally, and gains energy from alone time or very small (1 or 2 people) encounters. Mistaking introversion for shyness is a common error. Introverts prefer solitary to social activities, but do not necessarily fear social encounters like shy people do.
Extroverts focus outside themselves, and gains energy from being around large groups of people.
There's also an acknowledged third option: Ambiversion
Although many people view being introverted or extraverted as a question with only two possible answers, most contemporary trait theories measure levels of extraversion-introversion as part of a single, continuous dimension of personality, with some scores near one end, and others near the half-way mark,[11] see the Big Five personality traits. Ambiversion is falling more or less directly in the middle.[4][12] An ambivert is moderately comfortable with groups and social interaction, but also relishes time alone, away from a crowd.
Maybe I'm an Ambivert? Though really: invite me to a huge party I'd far rather sit home with my cat. Invite me to flop on your sofa for hours chatting one on one: I'm so there.
On the other hand everything is subjective and based upon circumstances, need, and just the moment itself.
Do you classify yourself as introvert or extrovert? (I know I've essentially done this poll before: we're all bloggers. We sink into our own heads and write and predominantly exhibit introvert tendencies in regards to our personal comfort zones).

Loving Hands

Two hands... one soft, the other rough. Yin and Yang. Man and Woman. Lover and Beloved.
It begins softly, innocently. Some people are unable to keep their hands to themselves (thus touching while talking seems comfortable and friendly). Then a touch turns into a slight caress.... why be boring just sitting there touching, after all? Then curiosity creeps in. Back of hand sliding against palm, then wrapping to caress palm against back of hand. Fingers gliding lightly against one another, the faintest, feather-light touch. Energy starts building up. Slowly talk dwindles to silence as focus is pulled completely to the faintest touch of hands exploring. Gradually the feeling intensifies. Skin quivers, nerve endings ignite. It is still just the touch of one hand against another, but the feeling spreads through the rest of the body. Breath catches, heart begins racing. Yet still... just hand against hand. Calm, patient, nothing more than touch. Yet, in that moment, the Universe exists in a touch. Intense and overwhelming.
When was the last time you paid attention to a lovers hand, beyond a passing tease of foreplay mien?
In honor of the post: a hand pic:

I just read this on a site talking about "Levels of Tantra" and wanted to share it:
Mindfulness
Be Present.
In all you do.
Be aware of the moment.
Your breath, your partner's breath.
Where bodies are touching.
Your tips of your fingers as they travel and explore.
Define no body part.
Have no goals.
Let your thoughts come and go.
Relax.
Do nothing. Don't try to please. Don't worry about being pleased.
Let the unfolding happen.
Be Present.

Life ... After

People come and go every day. Passing shadows, a moment or two, no lasting difference.
Others... come in the door and alter life as you know it. Whether they stay minutes or a lifetime doesn't matter.
This past week has felt like both a lifetime and a second's passing, and I'm not really sure how to explain why.
I'll just say he's the most beautiful person I've ever met. His mind, his heart, his soul.... even his cynicism.
And now that he's gone back home the world feels colder.
Okay: that is a slight joke... it really *IS* colder. For some reason we got an odd spring heatwave while he was here. The day he left it broke and now it's quite chilly.
For everyone that commented on my "are glasses sexy?" post: Thank you!! I will try to reply later this week. I'm drop dead exhausted and going cross eyed trying to type (and hours before bedtime).

Libido vs Brain

Perhaps my understanding of "libido" is faulty. In my mind "libido" is the actual physical craving for sex.
My libido is fine. But my BRAIN is freaking driving me INSANE.
Or maybe my brain is at war with itself. Libido-driving side of the brain "Hush! I've got things to do... my resources are being spent all over the place, there's not enough to go around. Libido will just have to wait"
Other side "But I want sex! We should be having sex. Can we have sex now? Maybe a toy or two?"
Libido-driving side "No, you can play later when things are less chaotic"
"What about now?"
"No"
"Now?"
"No... if you have all that energy, why not try something useful? Create a travel budget or work out the measurements and logistics of rearranging the bedroom furniture or something?"
"Ummm... How about now?"
Yeah... this is how my brain is operating at the moment. haha.
Happy Monday everyone!

Inspiration - Virtual Symposium - Outsourced.

The "out-sourced" version... Written for me, about me lol.
****
I've been inspired by the strangest of things in the weirdest of places. Maybe it's because I am weird? Who isn't though? If I am weird, then I'm 'nice weird'. A well meaning kinda weird! It's weird to be important but it's more important to be weird! That's my philosophy and that's what inspires me!
Inspiration surrounds us! It lurks around every corner and you never know when it will jump out. A walk in the park, the smell of spring, a breath of clean air, a quote, my family, my friends and the sound of bagpipes I've always had a thing about bagpipes. Well..... perhaps more the person whose playing them. Sigh... my brain just wandered off! For a minute I was in the heathered highlands being serenaded by a man in a kilt! When I was at college, I used to rest on my bed and listen to a kilted man on the path beneath my window. Those warm summer nights were wonderful. I'd think about my life and future possibilities such as travel....friends.... family and love. The sound would dance in and I would close my eyes and imagine that he was playing to me alone! Bagpipes when played right can be the most beautiful sound.... the right combination of notes can literally send a person to sleep whilst filling their head with magical dreams.
Haha... maybe I am weird!
All things considered though.... my biggest inspiration is love! My apartment is a homage to love! I have heart pictures, heart cushions and heart shape ice-cube trays. Some of my favourite authors, thinkers and musicians write out of angst, sorrow and nihilistic feelings of abandonment. On the flip side, in true yin/yang balance, poets such as Rumi write out of love. The ability to love and be loved is the most amazing feeling!
****
So, today I was inspired to.. NOT write. Thus I outsourced it to a friend to write for me. A few things are not *quite* accurate (ie: the pipe player was half a block away on the corner outside the corner bar, not beneath my window), and others... I don't recall ever saying I had pictures of hearts in my apartment. But yeah... the heart shaped ice cube trays are real. So's the picture.
And Love... now that I read this in writing, I'm not sure if "love" is my inspiration... but I have been contemplating a lot lately that "Love" is my religion.
To continue the countdown... 71 hours....
I do have other "inspired" ideas. Too many. What inspires me to meet ONE person? ANY person? Why this and not that person? What inspires me to get out of bed in the morning? (Though that was covered in the poem There is always purpose ... my cat inspires me to get out of bed as, if I don't, she begins chewing on me. What inspires me to consistently exercise? Many options.
Perhaps I will write my own non-outsourced version later
Back to whatever it is I'm doing. haha.

The drama continues!
So I received "confirmation" a week ago that my drum was delivered. To somebody in Texas. I freaked, contacted the seller... he said "here's your confirmation# (gave me a different number). Looks like everything is fine, it's just not arrived yet".
Well: My blue doumbek arrived yesterday. Except it's green. The guy in Texas got my ice blue one, and I got his green one. LOL.
I'm not quite sure what to do about it yet.
In other news....
*runs around screaming* 4.5 days. The countdown continues.
For those tired of reading the doumbek saga: my apologies. I've really got nothing to write about so... this is it for the moment.

Pampered and Spoiled
|

I received an email question today that really made me think:
"So do you like pampering? If so what makes you feel like you are the only one and being spoiled?"
Do I like being pampered??? I *think* so. But it's not something I'm too familiar with.
What, in your mind, constitutes being "pampered and spoiled"?
A best friend once treated the both of us to a mani/pedi and deep conditioning hair treatment.
When I was 20 a boyfriend ran me a bubble bath with candle light, strawberries and sparkling cider to surprise me after a long day at work. He essentially played slave boy and waited on me, fed me strawberries, refilled the wine glass, etc. This was in my "still a virgin, not having sex" days.
Last Fourth of July while lounging in the hot spring Hitchhiker gave me a 10+ minute foot massage. It was a very unaccustomed luxury.
All unusual, one-off's. I'm not familiar enough with the concept or the experience to know what I might, especially, like.
Plus it's all in the bond with the individual person.
After an hour or two of thinking on this, and an hour writing/rewriting, I've determined I'd far rather feel cherished and loved than pampered and spoiled. Though if anybody wants to surprise me with pampered and spoiled I probably won't turn it down LOL.

*Click, Click!*
My psycho bitch button is broken.
Some people seem to have theirs permanently stuck into the "on" position and a piece of wood crammed in to make sure it stays.
Mine somehow got broken the other way. See? *Click, Click*... nothing
AmeliaCox blogged and asked how you would design your personality on her post [post 3620752] ... It's fun to think about.
I want to fix my psycho button, just to be comforted that it works right in case of need. I also decided I want to be more Eccentric. But really I just want more money so I can afford to be Eccentric in the ways I like, but otherwise keep to my mild to medium Eccentric level, not too ostentatious and over the top. That would require too much extrovert type energy I imagine. Learn to care a little less what others think (ok: a lot less!) and ... just wear that sari to work for the hell of it. (and I would if not for the rolling chair. I get caught in it every time I wear a skirt. I'd rip the sari right off).
*click, click*... sigh. Still broken. While I don't really need it at the moment, it's rather disappointing when somebody REALLY deserves it and it doesn't flip automatically (or manually).
I posted this on my FB about an hour before this post came into being. It's amusing how appropriate (and amusing) it is:
A buddhist monk approaches a burger foodtruck and says “make me one with everything.” The buddhist monk pays with a $20 bill, which the vendor takes, puts in his cash box, and closes the lid. “Where’s my change?” the monk asks. The vendor replies, “change comes from within”.
(Though... would a Buddhist monk actually eat a burger? I somehow can't imagine a Buddhist monk doing so)
Is there anything you would change about your personality if you could? And, of course, it is possible with a lot of work and attention. You can answer here of course, but go swing by Mel's blog too I didn't want to steal her topic, just...
