Boys with brains aren't always smart!!

In January this year, Master Hansen hit teenagedom, and decided to celebrate his newfound status by growing his hair long! Now don't get me wrong... I don't dislike long hair, but when you're 13, full of raging hormones, your skin is prone to pimples, and your hair gets so oily they could set up an oil rig on your head... well, I think you get the picture. (Oh, okay then, I'll admit it... I do prefer men with short hair... so sue me!)

Being the mother I am, I let him grow it, but with a little gentle nagging on the odd occasion. A day after I had politely suggested a visit to the barber's, which he politely declined, the school decided it was time to take the annual school photo. So now, we have a nice collection of "long haired" pics to send to family and friends, and I can hear my dad muttering already...

Master Hansen is a bright boy. A very bright boy actually. Top of his class. Too smart for his own good. Some would call it "gifted". And no, I am not knocking that!! I am a very proud mum, trust me on that!! He's been selected to participate in Maths Olympiads, to represent his school in Maths and Science quizzes, he's been selected to attend an academy in the summer holidays, due to his musical talent, and this week he came home with a letter to say he'd been chosen to attend a lecture on Art & Design, given by a visiting lecturer from the US, due to his exceptional talent in Art. How can a mother NOT be proud of all that?!?!

Cue the phone call that showed me his not-so-smart side!

"Mum, what time are you coming home?"

"Why? Is something wrong?"

"No, not really... (long pause)... but you know how you said you wanted me to get my hair cut?"

"Yeeesssss....."

"Well, I've cut it, but I need you to come home and fix up the top and the back, 'cos I kinda messed that bit up..."

(Sound of mother snorting and cracking up with laughter fills the room and deafens on other end of line)

"You're kidding me!! What on earth made you decide to do that?"

"I just felt like it."

"Okay, well, I'm not sure what time I'll be home yet, but just remember that your dad will probably be home before me."

"I'll stay in my room until you come home..."

That's when I realise it must really look bad, if he doesn't want his dad to see it!! And when I did get home... I packed up laughing once again, but managed, with my limited 101 in Hairdressing skills, to fix it up so he looked like a nice teenage boy again!

And, it just goes to show... boys with brains aren't always smart!

***And I am smart enough NOT to show a photo of my !!

Love, hugs and kisses from ♥♥HH♥♥

Helga...

So nice to hear parents being proud of their children no matter what mischief they get up to.

Why, my dearest, should you dislike a bit longer hair ?

Some were very famous when doing so, called John, Paul, George and Ringo.

And when you see so many football players using that ugly plastic band on the pitch but off the pitch they are the 'handsome' ones (not my types ).

Have you modified it in such way that a military hairdresser even can not jealous on you ?
