Cops can be guilty of racial profiling. They are allowed to ask to see an ID, so they can see if any warrants are outstanding if they have a reasonable basis, which is questionable in this described situation absent something else suspicious. The arrest is probably for contempt of cop, due to not following the request to show ID. Sounds like a false arrest case and the cops could be made to pay if they want to put up with the stress and headaches of a lawsuit.

what amazes me is that folks are shocked when cops display the same traits as the general society around them...where do you think the cops come from? (and yes, I know that the white Ferguson police dont live in that community - but they come from the greater US society) the US is so polarized like its never been before, the stuff that gets spewed along racial, geographical, socio-economical lines..never seen anything like it...so its not surprising that even if we take the race baiting/politics that occur on this site for petes sake as a microcosm of the US, we have folks from all walks of life predisposed to ideals...only some get badges....you think all their ideology stops when they put on the uniform...some cant get past it on a sex site...until your country starts pulling itself together, what we see now is only the beginning of growing divides.

I wonder why the white man wasn't arrested for soliciting prostitution from the black woman? Oh yeah...that's right...he's white...and white is right. There's nothing wrong with being white, right? It's a bunch of horse shit.

This is only the land of the truly free for white people...well, for white men mostly...white men with money...enough money to afford a lawyer willing to do much, much, much, more than a free public defense attorney paid by the same people that pay the police.

A black woman in Florida was recently convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison for firing a warning shot into her kitchen ceiling to deter her husband from continuing to attack her after years of domestic violence abuse. She claimed self-defense under the stand-your-ground-laws for which Florida is famous for; but she isn't white...so no stand-your-ground for her. That's special for white people who voluntarily put themselves into confrontations with minorities that they are affraid of. She is not free.

Michael Brown, a very large black teenager, was exceuted with his hands in the air, after first being shot in the back while trying to distance himself from a police officer who had just wrongfully, physically assaulted him for walking in the street. He must have been guilty of something, right? Clearly a large black teenager shouldn't be afforded true freedom. His freedom now lies with his maker and his departure from Earth; and not in his actions here, with the rest of us. Too black, too bad for him, right?

Another large black man, Eric Gamer, was executed on a sidewalk by the police, by being choked to death in a "choke hold", which is illegal for the police to use, for selling single cigarettes. But he was large and black, so clearly he didn't deserve the same freedoms of a white man; feedom from an illegal choke hold. I challenge you to find a single case of a white man being executed on the sidewalk with a choke hold in the past 50 years...maybe even 100 years You will not find one, because white people simply aren't black enough to be subjected to choke holds on public sidewalks by the police. It's one of the freedoms white people enjoy that others do not.

And so on, and so on, and so forth, and so forth...

I pray every day that white people will more quickly become a minority of the larger population in this country; and that the people making the laws, interpretting the laws, and enforcing the laws become a demographic mirror image of the demograpics of the entire population. Maybe then we will see a more fair system of arrest, prosecution and justice. Please join me in my prayers. When, not if...WHEN those prayers are answered, then one day this truly will be land of the free...for everyone.

Rest in peace Michael Brown and Eric Gamer, and all of the other people of color wrongfully executed by bigotted white police officers. I hope their families take solice knowing that one day the executioners must attone for their sins.

Papers, where are your papers?
Remember the old line from "Hogan's Heros".
It was also used by the "Laugh In" cast.

This is America, you are NOT required to carry your registration papers.
Well you weren't when we were a free nation, but now with HOMELAND Security who knows what rights are left in the land of the free. Are your telephone calls being monitored? And what about your online activities? Let's all ponder what those officers were thinking about. Were they profiling for prostitution, or were they just affected by an interracial relationship? Good golly Miss Molly, what if they start reading my posts on VisionPersonals.com?
yar, there still be pirates on the seas and the airwaves.

One of my best friends is of mixed race, he is half Swede and half Norwegian. (you have to be from Minnesota to understand that lol) He is married to a woman who is half black and half Korean. They have been married 25+ years. They have had some problems but nothing like that. Things have improved though, even during my lifetime it was illegal for people of different races to be married in some states.

Same as last time, is this the kind of democracy that the US is trying to impose on the rest of the world?

Sometimes I just shake my head....I used to think that the States were the most modern progressive society in the world. Since joining the site and learning so much through the blogs my opinions have changed a lot.

It turns out there is audio of the incident, the cop had a tape recorder running. TMZ has it on their website. A poll on that website now sides with the cop by a 90 to 10 ratio.

Presumption of guilt based on skin colour, it's pretty much similar over here. We need to rid ourselves of institutionalised racism, and train our police officers better.

You may not be required to carry ID, but if you have ID on you then you may be required to show it... If you are arrested for non-cooperation then the cops can take the ID you have and use it... to ID you... The cop claims he did not arrest the woman thinking she was a prostitute. There was a report of sex in public, and the couple fit the description. Bad thing being similar to a described reported offender...

You know this, has since, become a bogus story... right? Your telling of the story is completely sensationalized and riddled with inaccuracies. .. it's like you're playing a game of telephone... personally I think you should post an update and an opinion on the current state of "the case". Otherwise... I have to say you're just plain wrong about this particular case.

Do me a favor...go look at one of my other posts and make a comment... please...

It isn't surprising. I try to be really careful when meeting people for hookups or public or semipublic play with associates because I know it will be assumed I am a prostitute., I know when it really came down to it I would have to whip out my shield to stop the madness. I wouldn't be surprised if I was even more forcibly arrested because I identified myself as a government official

Cops can ask for your ID, yes. But legally, you don't have to show it to them unless they are detaining you... and they can only legally detain you if you've done something wrong.

The pictures that surfaced match up with witness statements more so than the actress' statement. The making out could have been public sex, based on the pictures, though it would have been a discrete version of it. The witnesses undoubtedly pointed her out to the police as one of the two parties involved. The male in the pair (apparently her boyfriend) provided identification to be cited for the alleged act that witnesses were prepared to testify regarding and, as she refused to provide the same with regards to her charges, she needed to be detained. Simply police procedure, regardless of race.

But I do wonder about the cartoon.
