Does look matter?

Why do everyone say that personality matter more than looks and then they always end up going for looks. I believe both matter but women make it sound like personality matter more.

 Years ago a friend told me that she wanted to hook me up with one of her friends. The description was "she isn't the prettiest girl but she has great personality". I replied "isn't that always the trade off?" and the blind date never happened.

 looks count some times, most the time i belive its the personality but it helps to roll over and see a goddess instead of something else but a smart mind is just as amazing
