Depression

I wipe my brow as I stare out my window
just another day of misery
endless ceaseless existence on a rock
how I long to be rid of this place
of its pestilence
these people you call human
they infest this world like a virus
bacteria a plague that rages war on itself
it devours its own kind
sometimes gladly
sometimes out of greed anger intolerance
indifference or just plain evil
I wipe my brow of this place
bid it farewell good riddance
when my day comes
and it can't come soon enough
I sigh as I stare out my window
I take another sip of forgetfulness
I just want to forget
I was ever here
drop away from this place
it blinds me of emotion
it makes me forget all that I've seen
all that I know of this world
I walk away and climb into bed
I pull the covers over me
I hide away from everything and everyone
I hide away till the day
when I no longer wake
I find myself drifting away
into a starry night
that takes us to a better place
where the seas are calm
the people are sane
where they no longer hurt each other
where no one is left in the cold of night to die
