Face To Face Versus Long Distance Reassurances. A Poem

I am not going
To feel at ease
Until we meet
Face to face.
For then I can guage
Your reaction
See if there is
On your part
Any attraction.

I have doubts.
I have misgivings.
They are not going away
Based on your
Long distance reassurances.

In the past
The way I am feeling
I would go running.
I would back away
In the other direction.

You don't know
The pain I have suffered
From rejection.
Why would I set
Myself up for that again?

It's a pattern
I can't escape.
Men fail me
Time after Time.
They promise
The world
And deliver nothing.
I am not saying
You are the same.
I need to guage
Your demeanor
Face to face.
See your eyes
See if they are clear
See if I can detect
You are on
The up and up
And not just
Feeding me a line.
