I've been watching> It only brings up a few questions from me.
Why were no charges ever made. There is no statute of limitations in Maryland.
There were 6 full investigations done by the FBI on Kavanaugh and nothing found. Why was nothing ever brought up then?

Thank you Kzoopair. Since VisionPersonals.com will not allow the r word I bet many women would have liked to share their stories on blogs. I know a few brave women have written their stories of harsh realities. I was made aware of my own story that I had tucked away. God damn the victim shaming. I have had a man ask the questions about the time issue. He is perhaps being a devil's advocate. REMEMBER how long it took to get justice for the victims of Bill Cosby, Harvey Weinstein, Jerry Sandusky, the Catholic Church, the Olympic Gymnasts' doctor, Dr. Nadler. They are getting it wrong. This is a confirmation hearing for a lifetime appointment to the SCOTUS. It is about character. They guy in his yearbook is a scumbag. We as a nation should do better in assessing character. LOL Case in point, our joke in chief of a President.

It's been explained many times but I'm happy to do it again. Sexual assault and sexual abuse survivors commonly don't report the assaults because they face vilification for besmirching the names of the males they're charging. They're shamed, blamed and ostracized. They learn quickly to bury the truth of what happened and keep their mouths shut rather than endure that torture. Many victims take their secret to their graves. An FBI agent could better explain why they didn't turn anything up, but my own view is that they didn't turn anything up because no woman had spoken up about Kavanaugh's behavior until Dr. Ford bravely stepped forward. Now many women are speaking up, gaining strength from her courage. I know what I'm talking about. My wife is a sexual assault survivor.

I wholeheartedly agree. Dr. Ford has nothing to gain and a great deal to lose. In fact she's already been tormented by death threats and has had to go into hiding in safe houses. She did it to save other women from harsh treatment by a man who is clearly a misogynist. The decisions he would make on the highest court would endanger all women.

I can't be silent about this. Dr. Ford is telling the truth. So many women KNOW that Dr. Ford is being truthful because they've had similar crimes committed against them. The incidents described by victims in this case ring true to me too, because I knew of such behavior when I was a young man. I was never present on such an occasion, but I heard friends and acquaintances talking and laughing about being present and/or participating in gang r***s. The onus was always on the woman for being stupid or being a slut. I once listened in shock as a roommate bragged to me about cornering a girl in a garage in his neighborhood with several other young men and demanding that she fuck them all. When she refused they threw a rope over a rafter and hung her until she pissed herself. Then they took her down and r***d her repeatedly. That's just one incident of many that I recall hearing.

It makes me sick to think of it. It makes me sick- and furious- to think of what my wife endured. We aren't raising boys and young men properly. This has to stop!

Women have more power in this country than ever before and they aren't willingly going back to times of being chattel and cumrags again. The social contract is being renegotiated today and women are making demands. Chief among those demands? STOP R**ING US!

It ain't over, wicked. The fat lady hasn't sung yet. The next drama scheduled for our entertainment is senators trying to explain to Trump that he has to ask the FBI to re-open the background check on Kavanaugh or he doesn't get his nominee confirmed. That could be high drama indeed. He'll probably launch a Twitter barrage a la World War One. Next...well, I'll hold off on "next" until it's time for it.

I still believe her and I think she set a fine example for us all with her courage. Even if Kavanaugh still gets confirmed her effort was not wasted.

I don't know what else to say really. He really didn't come off looking very good or very believable. I really hope he doesn't get confirmed, just his demeanor alone should be enough to disqualify him. He wasn't responding off the cuff, he planned that show and that makes it even worse!

Thanks! I already doubted his credibility before Dr. Ford spoke out.He was evasive and flat refused to answer direct questions. Almost all his records were sequestered so that Democrats couldn't examine them. It was clear a whitewash was going on. As this has unfolded Kavanaugh has demonstrated exactly the kind of behavior you'd expect from a rich, privileged white male. He acts as if he's owed that seat on the high court, and he was willing to violate the rights of a seventeen year old girl to impress Republicans to give it to him.

"The [lad] doth protest too much, methinks"

His behavior is absolutely a red flag and and being so evasive about wanting to clear his name with an FBI investigation... what man with nothing to hide would refuse a thorough investigation? Then staring down Dick Durbin instead of simply answering his question... Then questioning Senator Klobuchar if she drinks too much and has ever blacked out, his behavior was beyond belief. I was able to watch most of it and tried to rewind or record what I missed when I had to go out or when I went to work.

When Trump was elected I didn't think things could get a whole lot worse, yet every single day there is something that happens that just beggars belief!

I think I may just have to tune in to Saturday Night Live tonight and their treatment of this whole episode!

I watched all day and into the evening. Dr. Ford was impressive. She comported herself perfectly for a group of old white sexists bent on cementing their hold on government. She didn't give them a single thing to find fault with. And Kavanaugh's testimony affected me the same way it did you. He's the poster boy for the good ole boys club. It's as if Republicans are willfully alienating every voting woman in the country. They're spoiled, entitled pricks.

Someone asked about the 6 prior investigations and why they didn't bring up any of this sexual misconduct (in the situation where he pulled his pants down and practically put his penis in a woman's face) or why no one ever investigated this particular sexual assault.

While your reply went to why the woman didn't report, I'm responding to the FBI investigations part of it. Believe it or not, people, past FBI investigations don't pursue anything that isn't a problem. For instance, if your father gave you a bunch of money but through a company, instead of the proper way and paying taxes on that money, the FBI might not see that as a problem. The IRS would, but not the FBI. If the FBI doesn't hear anyone talking about your alleged sexual assaults, they aren't going to be able to dig them up for you. What they should do, in the event that an allegation of sexual assault comes out into the public, is investigate all witnesses, including the two people that it allegedly occurred between and any other witnesses that might have been in the room, or the house.

If allegations of alcohol abuse comes up into the public eye, then that should be investigated, also.

In the days before #MeToo, sexual allegations that were not also backed up by a police report of "something that happened" were not freely looked at. Hopefully, we all learned a few lessons from this incident- 1. If you are a survivor, there are alternatives to filing a police report that can leave a paper trail for the future should the survivor get brave enough to come forward publicly. 2. If you are the parent of boys, raise them to understand that there are ways of getting consent, clearly, and a woman who has been drinking isn't one to be able to give clear consent. We are not animals. We can wait until we have clear consent. 3. If you are the parent of girls, raise them to know how to give clear consent, how to look out for your other friends in drinking situations, how to extricate a girl or a boy from a sexual situation if the person has had too much to drink. One may call that being cock-blocked, but better that than to not understand that one is sexually assaulting someone unable to give consent. 4. If you are a man and under any doubt that the person you want to have sex with could be having trouble giving consent, just remove yourself from the situation.

I should make my sign off now, always wear a condom,

I agree with everything you said. On a political post, I tried making the same point you did about why six background checks had not revealed criminal sexual assault. If there have never been charges the FBI would not necessarily have reason to go there. The divide is stark on this issue. I'll say again: Women have more power today than in the past, in spite of how this fight over control of women's bodies seems to be heading. One of the first things these newly empowered women are demanding is "Stop r##ing us!" It's just not that hard to understand.

Thanks, friend! It's all been said before- we line up with our cultural tribe when events like tis happen. Republicans are the party of winning, and they'll agree to anything they think will appeal to the basest of their base. They don't really need wide popular support because that isn't how they win. And Democrats, for better or worse, are the party of empathy for others, in spite of all their past mistakes.
