Mother-Fucker!!! Why man!

This is not a happy post. I am writing it because I need to vent. I need to shed some light on something that fills me with disgust, rage, sadness and empathy. I would certainly appreciate all your thoughts, and comments, but I will not be responding to your comment as I usually do.

Any of you who usually stop by my blog know that I haven’t been blogging a lot lately… my attention has been on another dating website. I have chatted with many women there, had a few dates, but an alarming amount of women have echoed the same story of what happened in past relationships. On the other site, as you talk to a lady for longer and longer, you eventually drift to the topic of why past relationships ended.

What I keep hearing about that has me more tightly wound than usual… Domestic Violence! When you hear from the first woman, it’s like shit… “I’m so sorry you had to experience that”. I don’t live under a rock, you know this shit goes on, and all I’m feeling is empathy for the victim. You hear it from a second woman, and it’s like “fuck; another one”, and sadness is added to the empathy. Then you encounter it again, the rage meter goes up, and I’m pissed. Then, the fourth, fifth and 6th (and I’m sure there will be more)… the disgust sets in. I’m left shaking my head, thinking men are just mother fucking assholes… but I’m a man, so the blanket statement just won’t do.

I decide I need to vent here about this… I want to get some information on the phenomenon, to speak to the matter. After visiting the second domestic violence website, all that’s in my head, is What-The-Fuck. And it’s not the casual WTF, but the big giant, screaming, WHAT-THE-FUCK. Here are the statistics I found.

Every 9 seconds in the US a woman is assaulted or beaten.

Around the world, at least one in every three women has been beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused during her lifetime. Most often, the abuser is a member of her own family.

Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women—more than car accidents, muggings, and sexual assaults combined.

Studies suggest that up to 10 million witness some form of domestic violence annually.

Nearly 1 in 5 teenage girls who have been in a relationship said a boyfriend threatened violence or self-harm if presented with a breakup.

Every day in the US, more than three women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends.

Ninety-two percent of women surveyed listed reducing domestic violence and sexual assault as their top concern.

Domestic violence victims lose nearly 8 million days of paid work per year in the US alone—the equivalent of 32,000 full-time jobs
.
Based on reports from 10 countries, between 55 percent and 95 percent of women who had been physically abused by their partners had never contacted non-governmental organizations, shelters, or the police for help.

The costs of intimate partner violence in the US alone exceed $5.8 billion per year: $4.1 billion are for direct medical and health care services, while productivity losses account for nearly $1.8 billion.

Men who as witnessed their parents’ domestic violence were twice as likely to abuse their own wives than sons of nonviolent parents.

If you do this shit… beat up on women… man the fuck up, grow a set, and stop yourself from doing this shit. Seek some professional help, and handle your shit, PLEASE. If you don’t want to stop this, then turn in your man card because you are not one of us (a man), and you don’t want us to come and take it from you… trust me on that.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness month… a personal call to action for the real men who have read this post. Step up! Keep other males in check who are perpetrators of domestic violence. Take it as a personal insult to manhood and act accordingly.

Excellent post and timely. Along with what you wrote there are millions of women world-wide in the sex trade, including children (both sexes). Many are in it of their own free will but many have been forced into it and sold into it. Remember them too.
Every month ought to be domestic violence month.

Hi, you may want to read the blog entitled " Abuse why", & my comments about sociopaths. It may help you understand the why. BTW...don't forget how emotionaly abusive some women can be to a good man too! Sociopaths were born w/o emotions: no remorse,no compassion,no ability to recognize others feelings or even basic right from wrong,no ability to care or love deeply....its a VERY subtle, severely insane form of selfishness. They attempt to make their own rules, even disregard moral behavior & since they also have feelings of self grandeur are never wrong(according to them) so they wonder why the things they do or say may not be acceptable. They're vengeful, inhumanly vicious & brutal ,controlling & manipulative.Mean to the core but this is also EXTREMELY subtle.Only those astute, aware & caring can spot the "red flags" (though some are quite obvious like the physical abuse. Hope this helps. PEACE

There are currently about 163.2 million women in the USA. If one is "assaulted or beaten" every 9 seconds, that's 0.000005514% of women every 9 seconds.

You could also say that 163,191,716 women DON"T get beaten or abused.

Look, I'm on your side... Any guy that hits a woman is a scumbag and needs to be taken out behind the woodshed for some empathy training. But statistics made up for emotional shock value really don't tell the whole story.

I'm reminded of one of my favorite quotes...

"There are three kinds of lies. Lies, damned lies and Statistics"
-- Mark Twain.

This is a fine post. It's for men to change this. Women are speaking out about it, and men can change it. We have to be the ones to intervene and make the difference. The statistics are a red herring, as has been demonstrated. There will always be someone who will question the data and deny the magnitude of problem because the data can be questioned. Numbers don't matter my friend, but people do.
We have all seen it, and there are many who will testify.

I never could stomach domestic violence. The few times I received disciplinary in the military was as a result of my reactions as a responding police man and the resultant hospitalization of the "macho men" that beat up their wives. There is never a place for violence in the home. Those people are not MEN, they are males, a significant difference. I think the unfortunate thing is, it has occurred through out time (I am not making excuses for it). These males need to be punished. and ostracized .

Well said McShug!

A quick aside, but in Glasgow before during and after an 'old firm' football match the domestic violence crime rate more than doubles.

I find the whole thing so mind boggling, I just don't get it. Completely unacceptable in every case

A well crafted rant.
Domestic violence needs to be taken far more seriously by the authorities in terms of detection and prosecution.

VERY well said 1eroticauthortwo! I'd just like to add that a feeling of being "awakened" is a common symptom of the serious post traumatic stress order & its very true how lousy & mean we all treat each other, its heartbreaking. What really does need mentioning is probably the saddest ( &most frustrating ) is the fact that we're dealing with the severely(although subtle) insane who do not have emotions or a conscience,no ability to recognize right or wrong so therefore CANNOT be taught! Even in the Bible it says: "Thou shall not cast pearls before swine" not refering to them as pigs but rather recognizing that some are quite literaly impossible to get through to & to not waste our time trying to teach them, better to move on & try to teach those who have the ability to understand. PEACE.

the people who are knocking the stats are not realizing that those numbers include repeated abuse...not necessarily 9 individual women every 9 seconds...but the same woman every day...

regardless of that...
this was a great post and i am so glad i didn't see any abuse apologists and victim shamers. every time i hear someone say...'well she stays with him, she must like it' i just want to punt a small hole in someones head.
