Large Boobs… a curse to healthy living?

One of the cornerstones of healthy living is to get the appropriate amount and type of exercise. The general bill of fare is a stretching routine, some kind of resistance training, and something that taxes your cardio system, both aerobically and anaerobically.



I came across this cry for help on the web:

“I have a hard time exercising sometimes because my boobs are so big. Sometimes I can’t breathe and do certain exercises because it hurts my chest (like running or doing jumping jacks). Also, I can’t do sit-ups or crunches because it hurts my lower back. Can you recommend any exercises that won’t hurt my chest or back?"

I thought I would post this to get input and comments about the challenges of exercise from those who fit the bill.

Ladies, do larger boobs prevent you from exercising?

Have anyone of you found and exercise routine and proper clothing to reduce or eliminate the difficulties?

I have a friend with extremely large breasts she has back issues from them. There is no reason a person can't walk though --- and I'm sure if she consulted any trainer -- they'd be able to help find something that would work for her. My breasts aren't tiny, so when I run etc - I know what she means -- I just get a really tight sports bra that basically compacts them and holds them into place moreso that that isn't an issue.

The running part I had an inkling about. It's the sit-ups part I didn't know about... that's a new one.

I have to hold mine if I run through the house for something, or it hurts them. Golfing is tricky with boobs too, and mine arent that darn big!

KHU good to know.. I am only 36B and never experienced large boobs.. My g/f has 44DD and always complains about her back hurting.. A few g/f have had that reduction for health reason.. They feel so much better now.. hugssssssssssss V

Many women need TWO sports bras on. This gives them the support they need to not move at all or at least much.

I myself am a 36 B but for years and years I was between a 32 and a 34 B. When my weight fluctuates I am between a B and an A cup. No fun there.

I'm a yoga instructor for the plus size. None of my class is spent jumping up and down, or anything of the sort because not only do boobs bounce around, butts and stomachs do, too! None of that feels good to someone who is just starting to exercise for the first time in their lives or recommitting themselves to taking care of themselves. I have alternate asanas (stretching positions) for every contingency, stomachs in the way, boobs in the way, butts in the way, insde of the thighs get in the way, flappy arms, you name it.

The trick to helping someone who has too big boobs is finding an activity that does not stretch their ligaments that hold up the breast, or an activity that a double sports bra can help the wearer with their activity.

There are other exercises that work the same muscles without doing a sit up or crunch. I actually misaligned my lower discs when I was in my early twenties so I never did situps. She just needs to consult a trainer to show her properly.

Back pain complaint is the issue I was always aware off. I have always wondered if strengthening the upper and lower back with weight training, would minimize some of the discomfort. Kind of a keep the body in balance thing.

Yes... I have just started investigation stand abs routines, since I had getting down on the floor, and sometimes when I do mountain climbers, the is a popping feeling in my lower back.

This seems to be the problem of those who have large breasts. Due to the size of my breasts I have had to find alternatives both in terms of exercise and proper clothing. Usually when I exercise I use a sports bra that helps to keep the breasts more compact and clinging.
This type of clothing only helps to reduce difficulties or discomfort caused by size. Even so, there are certain exercises that make the exercise routine, complicated precisely by the size of the breasts.
