Interesting... never touched on with regards to the Vulcans, but Star Trek (NG), did touch on the issue of sexual orientation. It was a single sex planet (every "proper" person identified as a single androgynous gender). In the episode, one person secretly identified as female, and fell in love with the ship's first officer (Ryker). She was cured of her "affliction", and flipped back to a proper member of society with some drugs and religion, leaving a heartbroken Ryker. Good episode... I'm sure it on the net somewhere if you haven't seen it.
