I been watching this site for along time and have found a handful of trolls using unconfirmed, standard, fake accounts are such jealous assholes they try to have us beautiful women banned. The site does nothing but allow this harassment and supports their abuse so they can steal the gold from the members and delete paid accounts and never give a refund.
Here is a list of the haters. pepper666wolf, _Daley_, RockFireH20, V__2, Pretty___Woman. all the same person all the same bullshit. We all know this is going one. It is time to tell this site to GFY..............copy and save this because I will be banned for being honest!!!!

I think she misses you when you you're at work all day.

Has she always scratched on the furniture before? Did this start after the introduction of Fizzgig, perhaps, or just after the introduction of the newer couch?

Cats shred furniture for a whole bunch of reasons, and for that, there isn't one sure-fire way to prevent them from doing such. Most people do agree that it's done because they're seeking attention, or out of boredom.

Some have suggested placing double-sided sticky tape on the area that is scratched, others have suggested taping tin foil to the area.

What I've used in the past that has seemed to work quite well is a spray bottle filled with water. Preferably a bottle whose stream option can shoot about five or more feet away, so you don't have to chase them down. A quick spray and firmly voiced "NO!" while the act is being done has worked for me. Key words here: while the act is being done. Cats have a short memory retention; they won't know why they're being sprayed unless you catch them doing the undesired act. It may take several sprays over the course of a few weeks to a few months for a cat to learn, and those cats who do not like to get wet at all tend to learn faster.

Sometimes, the shredding act could be just the smell of newer furniture that attracts them to it and causes the desire to shred. Cats not only do this to sharpen their claws, but to "scent mark" new things in their territory; there are scent glands in their paws, their cheeks, above their eyes, and of course, their nether regions. Since this couch is "only six months old", that might be a reason why. The reason could also be the introduction of Fizzgig; Loki might be mildly acting out to reassert her place in the house hierarchy.

If the behavior started after the couch was introduced, that seems to point to the behavior. If the shredding started after Fizzgig was introduced, then it's most likely Loki's way of dealing with *feeling neglected*. There's a "new kid in town" that is getting all of your attention. Yes, cats can be jealous.

If Loki's been shredding things (besides her tree/scratching post) well before Fizzgig or the new couch came home, then it's already a well-established habit that may require more time and diligence to recondition her to not do such. This may require someone who is home most of the day to keep up on the *behavior modification process*.

the Wicked One...

That reminded me of the time, my daughter put a cheese grater on her brand new $70 pair of jeans...right after i bought it for her...oh i was mad...according to her, she was doing me a favor for not paying $150...cus that's how much i would have paid if i bought her already shredded jeans with holes....really eye opening experience to have kids...and probably same for pets...
