You would think

You would think with all the problems that we have in Oklahoma. Our State legislature. Could spend there time better than working on who should be able to get married and by who.

 Those so-called "more important problems" will never be solved. They are simply there to keep the politician well stocked with ammunition to blame "The other guy" for all of society's ills.

So, the social issues rule the day and there is a great deal to debate.
