Through the years, have developed a way to compensate for friends/people in my life disappearing (Along with my distrust for people in general), or disliking me. The disliking me part is actually a useful tool, keeping distrusted/bothersome people at a distance. I hear the whispers/rumors that spread about me, but have a thick skin, and figure I'm keeping them busy, at least. Don't really care what others might say about me, or their rumors.
For those people/friends that "disappear", I try not to get close to them, or let them get too close to me. If I'm not important enough to put effort into keeping in contact with me, then they were not that good of a friend/person.
I'm a very independent person, choose not to depend on people or trust their motives.

*** Not so much here on this site, in day to day life.
