We're ‘old’ fuddy-duddies


Last night my wife and I went to bed at 8:30PM. I’m not sure if it was by design or what, but as the television drowned out the doldrums and stresses of the day, soon, all that was on was the back of our eyelids.

The social extravaganza has passed us by.
I’m okay with that. Actually, we both are.
The days of bars and staying out all hours of the night are well past their primes as maturity takes control over foot loose and fancy free.

We’re not 20 anymore.
Hell, we’re not even in our 30’s.
Outside of work, I haven’t been out late socially in years. And my wife, with the exception of her dinner date with Mark last month, hasn’t either.

And you know what?
“Social’ life as they term it, is overrated the older you get.
Killing yourself with work, family, and is a difficult balancing act as it is, and throwing in an active social calendar is borderline crazy.
What was hot, exciting, and living edge in our 20’s, has become boring, unneeded and clock watching in our late 40’s.
That’s not to say we don’t socialize. We do. But, don’t ask us to tie one on every weekend unless you’re driving a motor home so we can catch the 10 o’clock news, and then bed.

 Same here, we just aren't exciting as we used to be. Rock and Roll all night has a different connotation now than it used to. Now it means we turn and move all night while we sleep. Merry Christmas!
