HNW - Recreation

I've been away on a road trip.


Part vacation and part work, fixing up the family cottage. All fun and camaraderie with the family. Not much time for taking HNW pictures...

But we did take time for a little recreation and adventure between repair projects. A short drive and a two mile hike up a mountain then a few hundred yards down the other side to find the cave. We'd been there once many years ago with my uncle. I tried to organize an excursion to the cave when we had all gotten together for a week after his funeral last summer but there were too many other things going on that week. And too many supposedly active lifestyle people who just weren't up to that much exercise. I made sure it was part of the agenda on this trip.

My 30 year younger cousin went with me. The good news (for me) was that (a) I made it to the top and (b) he had a hard time keeping up on the hike. I might be 64 but I don't have to act like I'm old! (I think it was a wake up call for him - if he follows through on his plan to get back in shape it might not be that way next summer.)

Here I am climbing out of the chimney at the end of the cave. Not as naked as my usual pics but at least my arms are half naked. That counts, right?



Hiking in the woods is my favorite recreation (with clothes on). And it's even more fun when there's a little spelunking going on too.

It would be a pretty narrow dungeon as the cave is mostly a long crevice in the rocks. Happy HNW!

I've been ticking off a number of "I might be 64 but I can still do this" things this summer. Add climbing a mountain to the list! Not a big one, but I did hike up and stand on top before we explored the cave.
