You have never tasted so good....

It is hard, long, succulent, thick, juicy, out of this world.
When it goes in, you will experience ecstasy, and be in heaven!!

You have never ever ever tasted so good a "sate" until you have tasted Sate Klatak Pak Pong in Jogjakarta.

This happens when you drive in pitch darkness on a narrow road for 10 kilometers where the road is sometimes in disrepair. It is so far away from the bright lights of Jogjakarta, into the out countryside south of the JogJa Ring Road.

And you only have faith alone to keep you steady all the way hoping against hope that Google has gotten the address right. And you can't check on the internet because there is no signal. So you depend on GPS alone.

Just on the promise that you will be rewarded with the most unique "Sate" experience, the Indonesian way of spelling "satay", a term claimed by Malays to mean three pieces of meat skewed on a stick.

Actually, it so happens that it is a Hokkien (Chinese dialect) term for 3 pieces, but we'll let it slide and let the linguist debate who owns the right to "satay".

For now, after 10km of stunt driving I am facing Pak Pong's Sate Klatak shop.
I found a seat and plonked myself down and placed my orders.
5 sticks!
Now, in Singapore, I can easily swallow 20 sticks of satay but I looked at what they had and I estimated, 5 sticks are more than enough.

Perhaps too much.
10 minutes of waiting and I was served the most aromatic mutton sate I have ever smelled. And upon letting it melt in my mouth, it just felt like heaven. I moaned, I uuummmed, I aaahhhed and I oooooohhed.

Absolutely heaven.

I definitely recommend this to everyone.... Including all the Hungry Ghost that have come out in full force these few nights.

LUAR BIASA!!!!

You had me at hard, long and succulent...

Then again... This looks positively scrumptious. Thank you for sharing. Definitely next time when I'm in Jogja. Very brave of you to just GPS it..
