...the Twilight Zone...
...the Twilight Zone... There are folks who will tell you that they don't like poetry, and that they wouldn't listen to poetry. Hey, I wouldn't read poetry unless it had a rhythm that was favorable to my ear, so I understand. What a lot of folks don't realize is that they're wrong about how they think they feel about it. See, every song that you listen to is just poetry in a different form. It's called "lyrical poetry" which is how they did it back in the day before they learned how to put it to disc. You had a story to tell, but how do you keep the audiences attention (Hey, the resistance to poetry has been going on for centuries ). You did it by putting your story to music (there really weren't many instruments at the time but it did the job). Multiple stories were handed down from generation to generation through poetry in lyrical form. Listen to Boston's "Rock and Roll Band", Lynyrd Skynyrd's "That Smell", or Golden Earring's "Twilight Zone" (to mention a few) to see what I mean... (see below). |

We use that very example of poetry in music form to get kids to understand that they do like poetry. It's the story telling that I like it so much. Dyslexics are teople poo! Dyslexics of the world untie.
