Coping With Winter

In South Florida about the only coping winter required was turning off the air conditioning and lawn sprinklers for a couple months…up here in the great white north it’s a bit different.
Things like hoodies, winter jackets and warm boots are the norm while short skirts, short shorts and stiletto heels are reluctantly put away from about November till April.
There’s also gas line anti-freeze to buy, the scrapping of frost from windshields, slippery roads, snow to shovel and lip balm to buy.
There are some good things about winter up here though. It’s nice for sleeping cause I keep the heat off in the bedroom and have three heavy quilts piled on the bed, plus Eve has a fleece blanket she wraps up in, and Princess always sleeps with us while the Kitty does sometimes…he usually stays in his “sauna” at night though…one of the kitchen chairs pushed under the table which sits right near the electric heater. With the table cloth on and hanging down a foot or so, under that table I’ll bet its 20 degrees warmer than the rest of the house..!!
While watching TV, Eve and I cover up with yet another comforter while the Kitty sleeps on my lap and Princess either sleeps next to Eve or on the floor by my feet under the comforter.
I miss South Florida more everyday….I’d love to move back, or maybe just for a change move West. I’ve always liked both Tucson and San Antonio so if we were ever able to do it, that might be the direction we’d go.
Anyone else have coping ideas?

That's what she said, no local post office.
I was hoping you were close by. You could have told her that her condo fee is due... as a joke!
Well...If she's cute enough....I might make the drive...

I'm in a small condo, 6 units, and we have a snowbird from WI.
She's the nicest person ever. She lives in / near Rhinelander. A place called Sugar Camp on a lake.
    Is that close to you?
Rhinelander is about 80 miles or so North of us, Sugar Camp I've never heard of, but on the lakes up there there are so many little towns, many without their own post office.

I have just the opposite situation. I used to live in NJ, but now live in SW Florida. I've been here 20 years now.
I do miss some of the winter stuff. Being snowed in, a warm house when it's cold outside, when the trees all ice up, stuff like that.
As you said, my only winter preparation here is turning of the air. The $45 electric bills are pretty easy to take.
I'm from Wisconsin originally but spent 25+ years in the British West Indies and South Florida (Fort Lauderdale area on East Coast) and I'm still not sure how or why I ended up here in Wisconsin again...
I would have missed the snow too I think, but I spent 15 years driving semi long haul and got to see winter all over the USA and Canada...then go home to Florida and ride my Harley in January in a T-Shirt...

best coping Idea is hiding in warm bed as often as possible of course having someone with you is key
Very True....but you'd have to be a very good porn star to get through an entire winter that way...
