A So last week I go to the salon for a haircut and it was time to have my roots done and a new foiling done (for those of you who don't know what foiling is, it is having highlights put in your hair). I typically only foil during the summer months to give my hair a little contrast for the warmer weather. Anyway, I really thought I didn't need the foil, simply the root coloring (ya can you imagine I actually have grays!!! hehehe) but my hairdresser insisted that once he cut my hair the existing highlights would almost be completely gone. Of course being the person I am, I trust what he has to say and go with the flow. Well, we go through the almost 4 hour process (yep can you believe it takes that long...heck it takes almost 2 hours just for him to put the foils on my hair since I have such thick hair). So when it is all said and done and he is about to start blowdrying I notice that it looks rather light all over my head which only means that when it is blown dry it will be even that much lighter. Now I am getting a bit nervous because I am a dark brunette and definitely have no desires to be a blonde or a light haired person in general. Blow drying complete and he shows me the finished product. I am clueless what to say...my hair looks almost a uniform color throughout (not what is supposed to happen when you do foils) and it is LIGHT....and not even a light blonde...it looked orangish!!!! I almost died!! He claims he went a bit lighter for the summer to match with my skin tone and that it was caramel....I'm sorry I've had caramel highlights many times and this WAS NOT caramel. He swears up and down that it looks great and matches perfectly with my skin tone...I of course am not convinced but decide I will come home and get other people's opinions. First words out of my 's mouth...."Mom did you really want your hair to be orangish?" This was definitely starting out poorly!!! My younger , always the nice one, said it looked okay but she preferred my darker hair. My husband, always politically correct, said that if I liked it it was fine....which meant..."Honey it sucks!!!" I called the salon and spoke to my hairdresser and of course he became all irate because I was insulting his work. I told him that I rarely complain and that this was the second time he had done me wrong with my hair (we won't even get into what happened the last time!!! ) He was unwilling to rectify the situation....now mind you he and I have been friends outside of the salon for years and years....so it was very difficult for me to have to complain but I just couldn't take it. Of course his attitude only made the situation worse. I finally couldn't take it any longer and decided to go out and get my hair colored again....it is back to more of what I like no thanks to him and I stopped payment on my check (I decided it was unfair for me to pay $200 for something I was very unhappy with and that they were unwilling to rectify). Today the owner of the salon calls me to tell me he was quite disappointed in the fact that I stopped payment on the check and asked why I hadn't called my stylist if I was unhappy. I now find out that my hairdresser told the owner that he doesn't know why I stopped payment and that he hadn't heard from me...talk about trying to cover his ass. I explained the entire situation to the owner and what transpired when I called to complain and he completely agreed that I should not have to pay for something I am not happy with (I give his salon a ton of business so he doesn't want to lose me as a ). He not only said that I did not have to pay for the service but my next hair service is also on the salon....I am switching so that the individual who does my nails will now be doing my hair as well....I am sure it will put a damper on my friendship with my current hairdresser but in all actuality what type of friend is unwilling to rectify the situation and then to lie to his boss to cover his butt.... At least my hair is back to a color I like and I don't feel so awkward being seen out in public....and it seems this "hairy" situation is now behind me hehehehe Have a great day everyone and enjoy the weekend!! Like you, Im very dark, very thick, very curly hair. Its very hard for me to even come close to trusting a person to do my hair, so when I find a good one, I am very hesitant to complain. However, my hair is my calling card. EVERYONE remembers my hair. So its very important that it looks good at all times. What he should have done, and its a very quick fix for the "orange" is to just but a toner on it. Its like a ten minute process and recarmelalizes the hair. Dark hair does not go carmel color easily....we pull red! What is red and blonde mixed together?!?! Oragne! Lets all get out the color wheel. Glad it got rectified for you!

Awwwww poor you Annamarie that was not fair of him to put you through that. I do so hope that he can see it from your point of view as a customer and not let it effect your long friendship. Does that mean I can't call you a Fag Hag anymore I am glad you got it fixed Mmmwhhaaa

hey babe, go tony by the way . but as a customer, you were not happy with your service, and did what you should have done. the only thing i would have suggested is that next time, call the owner directly, fuck the douche bag that fucked up the hair. i could see if it was october and you wanted to go somewhere as a pumpkin but i do believe the main reason you were upset is that your hair reminded you of the #20 car. orange isnt so bad

OMG. I can't believe he did that. First he disrespected you by doing something to your hair that you didn't want... second, he didn't fix what you didn't like... third, he lied about it. Sounds like he has inhaled too much bleach solution... I am glad you had the confidence to cancel the check... Thank goodness the salon owner was sane... I have had too many issues with hair dressers ruining my hair by doing what THEY wanted rather than what I wanted. One guy wanted to cut off all my hair, but I wanted to keep it long. He intentionally messed it up so that I would let him cut it. He did such a bad cut that I had to fix it and ended up cutting it myself for a couple years. He later get upset thinking I went to someone else, but wanted to hire me after he found out I did the work! I got my own scissors, and buy my dye at the supply store and have been doing my own for years... Its how I like it - long and pretty and two tones blonde and brown underneath - and people always compliment me... yes - saving $200 every two months!!! xoxo
