???????????????

What is the longest line you have ever stood on?

I had a from Austria staying with us and took her to spend a couple of days in NYC. We went to the top of the Empire State Building, with the stop for the IMAX movie, and it was an eternity to wait. Some lines (like Space Mountain) at Disney World can get rather lengthy also. And then there were the times we sat in traffic waiting to get to Jones Beach.

I must say, I don't do lines well.

I stood on the center line for the Trans Canada Highway once. Just kidding.

After 911 waiting to go back across the border from Tijuana Mexico to San Diego California. Very hot and with that putrid smell in the air.

I live just north of NYC and many family members and friends were in the city on 9/11 and in the months and years there after. They have spoken on extremely long lines due to added security.

I know of a barber that lost his business because of the lines. His shop was in the former Met Life Building. Men want to pop in for a fast hair cut, but the security to get into the building took way too much time. He lost customers, and the business folded.

What was a perfect location, overnight became the worst location.

The longest lines I have been in were while in a car rather than standing. Both involved leaving town before a hurricane, or returning after the hurricane. Returning from Rita, I saw cars stranded on the side of the road for 20 or 30 miles. They had all run out of gas after being on the road for more than 24 hours.

Every time I go to the shore I worry about there being a need to evacuate. I can only imagine the lines, but I do know that the evacuation direction signs go on for many more miles than I would want to be stuck in traffic.

Hurricane evacuation is something that my husband and I haven't discussed during our chats about where to retire. Hmm, have to give it some thought.
