What Song Does It For You?
What Song Does It For You? For me, Harry Chapin's "All My Life's a Circle" has always struck a chord and brought a flood of memories. The timing of when I first heard the song, early college, and how it was played over and over by some musician friends. Another song, and I know it's impact was due to how a Social Studies teacher introduced us to it in class, is Tennesse Ernie Ford's version of "Sixteen Tons". Okay, maybe Ford's voice also had an impact. Ringo Starr's "She's Sixteen", I was 16 when it was released and an older guy I had a crush on, sang it to me. "The Battle Hymm of the Republic". Does it need explanation? "Amazing Grace". Another with no explanation needed. What songs do it for you? "Don't count the days, make the days count" |

Suite Judy Blue Eyes, Close to You and Come Saturday Morning. Not one of them was exactly "our song" but all three have special meaning to me. I often wonder if she thinks of me when she hears them as I do of her.
