JBW
JBW He taught me to live, to experience joy, to close my eyes and step into the unknown. Most of the people we knew in common detested him bitterly, besides thinking that he was crazy. Those that had more neutral feelings about him were afraid to align with him during his time of great controversy. However, it has been my experience that the true litmus test for human goodness lies in the acceptance of innocent young . And they adored him! MLK in his book, Strength to Love (a compilation of quotes) wrote “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” In 2003, JBW experienced monumental challenges in his personal, career and spiritual life. He stood strong and tall through controversy, mud slinging, humiliation and betrayal. And throughout it all, the only person by his side without wavering was a gal that rose to the occasion by being equally as crazy as him. I laughed with him like I never laughed before. But most importantly, I stood for something, challenged the fairness of changes, and in the end was a better person for having known him. If you have read this far, thank you for indulging this crazy gal that saw this little tidbit and thought of JBW. With whom I learned to be crazy and daring. If it wasn't for him, I probably would never have tried a membership here. "Don't count the days, make the days count" |
