What a Great I have

The other day, my was hanging out with his Paw. They were early for a baseball game after school so they decided to hit the doughnut shop across the street from the park. As they were sitting down to eat, My little man put his down, got up from his chair and walked over to the front door.

Not seen by his Paw, my had seen an elderly man having difficulty getting out of his car using his cane to walk with. So my little man went to open the door and hold it open for him making sure he got into the store okay or if he needed any other assistance.

Now this isn't the first time my has done something like this. Naturally, he seems to have a care giver personality. I'm really okay with it too. I see it as a gift for him. Not something we as parents had to teach him. this is something that has been inside him since he began interacting with others. he has always seemed to take the protector role.

For all the learning issues he has and the disobedience issue we face with our , I still could not have asked for a better . I often think I'm too hard on my but if how I parent him keeps him on the path he seems to be taking, then I think his mom and I are a success at doing our jobs as parents. Watching my little man grow up is difficult yet such a joy at the same time. I can't wait to see the full grown man he will become. I just hope it doesn't come too soon.

What a wonderful gesture.. You are right, it's instinct, not something that taught...it's compassion

IT is a gift. One we try to instill in him but it isn't anything we ever had to teach him. The kid was born with that Gift. It is my belief this kid has great things in store for him later on in life.

To explain just a bit more... the kid has some learning issues. After much research and much involvement, his school in part keeps forgetting my kid has special needs to learn. It is their requirement to meet HIS needs and not the other way around. I'll be damned if my kid ever comes home again crying because he got sent to the office for something I disagree with and their failure to comply the the requirements they are required to follow both by the state and the documentation we have provided to them. Screw this is the way you have taught for the past 30 years. Life is about change. Get with the times or find a new profession.

He is in private school Doe. But I agree, physical activity is and should be required in every school. We are failing our kids but removing such activities. Academics are very important but at times, preparing our kids for ANOTHER pointless and useless state required assessment and removing physical exercise is stupid.

Give our kids the foundation they need and let their minds take them to the places they need. Not every student will become a doctor, lawyer or rocket scientist. The math my kid does in 4th grade now, I didn't see until I was in High School!!!! It is NUTS!!! no wonder he feels out of place at times.

We just had a conference with his teachers to tell them to lay off on my kid. Yes my kid daydreams. especially at the end of the day when he's exhausted. But unless he is being disruptive let my kid be a kid!
