Worth Keeping
Worth Keeping For those who know me and read my blog, you all know things have been rather tough for us this past few years. Lord knows I'm ready for a turn around. Sure I have many complaints about areas I'd love to improve but I have a great life in spite of the difficulties we face. This past weekend was out wedding anniversary. We didn't do tradition this year for cost reasons but we still managed to go out to a nice restaurant for a good meal. As we sat at our table in the back of the restaurant, my wife actually gave me a surprise. It wasn't a gift or anything like that. It was a shocker as her comments were unexpected and her emotion was genuine. For a change, I was actually speechless. As we sat down, she reached across the table and grabbed my hand. She then looked into my eyes which is unusual for her. She proceeds to tell me with confidence that we have been in this same struggle twice before. Remember, it was only the night before that I told her I was loosing my job. She reminded me that we stuck together through it then and we still stick together once more. Over our 11 years together, (married that is - Total 14 years) we have faced many struggles. Including a break up early on but we found a way back to each other. We know many of our friends didn't make it for far less than we have seen. We don't always see eye to eye. Often times we seem to not even be on the same planet together. My own short comings feels that at any moment she will tell me to pack up and get because I'm not living up to even my own standard. Then she comes out with statements like these. It's not wonder why I still love this woman. We have our proclivities but we find a way to make it work. Sometimes that means we need to go into separate corners but we still find a way to come back together. That night was one of those moments we came together. |

I am glad she reached out to you like that. Sounds like you needed it!

As odd as it sounds, it really was one of those romantic moments for me. This time it was her being the romantic. Normally it's me taking on that role so I really did enjoy the reversal.
