Someone Else's Problem
Someone Else's Problem From wikipedia: Within the novel Life, the Universe and Everything of Douglas Adams's "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" his character Ford Prefect describes Somebody Else's Problem as: "An SEP is something we can't see, or don't see, or our brain doesn't let us see, because we think that it's somebody else's problem.... The brain just edits it out, it's like a blind spot. If you look at it directly you won't see it unless you know precisely what it is. Your only hope is to catch it by surprise out of the corner of your eye." Having worked so many years in the airlines industry, its really saddening to hear that MH370 is (at latest reports) most likely lost. I was contemplating today how much we apply the "SEP" field to that around us... the struggles of the families of MH370 (not just now.. but for the years to come)... war in syria... bombings in Iraq and Afghanistan. But i also do think "what can I do?"... and often the answer is "well not much really!". I cannot solve every problem in the world (famine, fires, poverty, aids, global warming, Justin Beiber etc...). but I can try to lead a life that is positive, and meaningful and helpful to the people locally... with the goal that the influence will "flow" on. So what do you do to lead a positive life? What is your contribution to the world? |

post3365631 Your out look may be a good one for you but others probable wont see it that way. Yes it is to bad about flight MH370 but things like that happen now, in the past, and will again in the years to come. You can try and fix the problem but alas they will still happen. The other problems you site are what make the human race. While it can be wished, it to be otherwise, it never will be. Until the human race stops being human, and I for one don't want it to stop, even with its problems. The Alaska Prospector for fun and all games.

I guess its also the "cost of progress"... I was reading somewhere about how the airlines industry was built on "blood", many of the modern improvements on planes were do to accidents and mistakes in the past (There was a time when planes wre crashing for no reason.. and after a ot of research they lernt that square windows on the side were breaking, which is why now airplanes have curved cornered windows)
