Getting condoms at the store.


Recently I noticed that my condoms had expired. Yeah I know it's a sad, sad thing when condoms go unused. Since I like to think I'm a responsible guy, this means I had to go out and buy some new ones.

So I went into the store, I had a few other things to pick up as well so I grabbed those things first then went to go get the condoms and was like oh crap I don't want to bring those up to the front counter. I ended up asking the lady at the pharmacy if I could handle that transaction back there so that I didn't have to bring them to the front.

This made me wonder why is that it is such an embarrassing thing to walk into a store and buy condoms? It shouldn't be, seriously I'm doing the responsible thing here, I should be proud of this. My theory on this is because society has made sex such a taboo. Oh no sex you can't talk about that, it is a dirty act to never be spoken about and you must pretend that no one ever does it.

I would like to know, do you get embarrassed about buying condoms? How do you handle it? Buying online? Getting other items to "hide" them? Why do you think people get so embarrassed about getting condoms?

 I can't say it bothers me at all. I'll buy condoms, feminie products, without skipping a beat. You may or may not get over it and if you don't then it's not a big deal. Some corner stores where I live do carry them behind the counter.... I would not want to be being served and have to discuss which ones were the best or cheapest or whatever with people around me. Even I have hangups. But pick them up off the rack and put them on the counter to pay for them... Not a second thought.

 When I was younger it did bother me. And I was always embarrassed to buy sanitary products if it was a male cashier.

Now I don't care one way or another. I think I got over it after I started shopping in Adult stores from time to time. There you can actually discuss the many varieties & kinds before purchase.

But I also shop sometimes for them online. I like that I can read people's reviews of the different ones to help me decide what I want. Plus it's really hard to find my favorite condoms in stores. (Just went to check & see that they are discontinued...bummer! I loved the non-lubed Kiss of Mint condoms...so good even for blow jobs.)

Once bought a big variety tin of the websites most popular condoms...it will be a very long time before I work my way through all of those. But I like to keep a variety in my little pouch in my purse just in case the opportunity arises. Don't want to depend on him to have some handy.

I think part of my hang up is that I went to a store I go to often to get them (I had to go there anyways) rather then going across town for them. Another thing is that I buy them so rarely I don't have time to get through the hang ups about buying them.

 I don't buy condoms but I do buy a thing for women that has spermicide. Thank God for self checkout.
