Is SLUT a bad word?
Is SLUT a bad word? A certain sub-set of people will raise the argument that "it's just a word" and "you" shouldn't waste your time talking about it. For the most part, in my experience, these people are almost exclusively privileged white males. The rest of us know better. The literal, dictionary-style definition of the word "slut" is "a promiscuous woman." But what exactly does "promiscuous" mean? It means "a woman who has sex more often than I think she should, or with more partners than I think she should have." Note the "I" in that phrase. Sluttiness is in the eye of the beholder. And what's the problem with a woman having sex, anyway? Don't we get to choose the variety and frequency of our partners? Isn't it nobody's business but our own? Oh my, no. As a woman, you grow accustomed to the fact that your body and what you do with it is everybody's business. Whether complete strangers are policing your sexual history, your percentage of body fat, or the tone of voice you use. (Sidebar: I have been polling my male friends. "I don't like your tone" is, so far as I am able to ascertain, a phrase which is leveled exclusively against either women and .) A woman's body is public property. Everything about our culture tells us so. The media certainly encourages this belief, be it print, television, movies, video games, comic books, or advertising. And since her body is public property, we decide what should be done with it. As a woman is pushed farther to the margins, thanks to her dress and behavior, the consequences become more dire. Sex industry workers are all sluts, of course, which is why serial killers preferentially choose them. No one's going to miss a dead , RIGHT? It sounds brutal, but unfortunately it happens to be a common opinion. On the other hand, men who engage in promiscuous behavior are lauded as heroes and get nationwide tours. |

It depends both on the context and how and to whom its being used. Are you encouraging your lover to take more cock as you treat her to the BBC gangbang she always wanted or are you using the term to scar or crush her heart? Just my thought.

that depends on the situation also it depends on the person , you have to be careful how the word is being used in some cases the word can be used in a good way and in others a bad way

I truly dislike labels of this nature. There are so many individual perceptions of the meaning and in the end I wonder what purpose they serve. When talking to a young man whose best friend was struggling with gender identity I asked if he referred to the person as he or she. His response was just Cory (the person's name) There are no sluts, just wonderful sexual beings.

People who use derogatory terms do so because of their own insecurity and a desire to make others as miserable as they are. The only person you are required to sleep with is yourself. If you are comfortable with yourself, then nothing anyone says matters. Be safe, relax and just have fun!

Just to weigh in I like being called a slut because it's a derogatory term And I do know many people who look down on having sex with lots of people, although i agree that's much more rare than for women.

Men are much more likely to commit violence than women. When women are violent it tends to be against her partner. One reason for this violence is the partner's promiscuity. It is correct to say that men and women are treated differently when it comes to a question of promiscuity, but it would be a mistake to imagine this is a private matter and not a social one.

Friendly vagina, my favorite Many women on this site call themselves sluts soooo guess it's who says it that makes it insulting. I haven't said it a mean way to any woman on here. Or outside of here but it seems more slut friendly here Standards are people too.....kinda

I plan to do my on writing on this subject, so I will hold back here. Hell No! slut is not a bad word. Whats worse than the men and women who try to use the word to degrade a women who is doing what (and who she wants) is when women do slutty things (and have the images and video clearly displayed for the world to see) and get offended by the word. As the great Dave Chappelle once said: you may not be a slut, but you sure are wearing a slut's uniform and performing a slut's duties. Not you personally, of course, Ms Black Dick Lover. >: )
