Congratulations on your weight loss journey. Like you, I had a preference for running when a hamstring injury caused me a major setback last February. Since that time, I've incorporated elliptical workouts and walking and adding 10 minutes of strength training per day focusing on one body group. Needless to say, like you, that cross training shocked my system and I am the fittest I've ever been. This coming from a woman that weighed 252 pounds at her heaviest, I am now at 130.

Taking things day by day really helps and adopting a new attitude about food and exercise have made this a permanent loss for over 5 years. I wish you all the success in achieving your weight loss goals and if you ever need any support, feel free to send me a message.

Thanks for the encouragement. I know I need to add some strength training to my program. I'm planning (procrastinating, actually) on starting a dumbbell workout this week since the only weights I have are dumbbells and I'm trying to avoid joining a gym. I've never enjoyed weight/strength training the way I do running. I know I have to find the mindset to make it work.

Good luck. I don't believe I would have made it this far if I had been focused on an end goal. I just went out and enjoyed my walk and didn't worry about the results. Now, I look forward to doing what I have to do to keep going forward. There are days I don't want to go, but I do it anyway.

Slow progress is better than no progress. The important thing is that you continue to be rewarded for the effort made, passer58by. I wish you good luck. I really enjoyed reading it.
