There is always purpose

Sometimes the weather slips.
Oceans falling from the clouds
washing away the sun.

Sometimes my heart
breaks for no reason.
Loneliness echoes around me

For this one brief moment,
everything feels senseless.

Work. Writing. Blogging.
Drumming. Breathing.

...and along comes Sassy cat
to remind me...
Of course there is purpose.
Always purpose.

Feed the cat.

 It is a wonderful poem, and it has a great twist at the end... according to a recent edition of "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me," cats are the only animal which doesn't forgive.

Don't know if this is true or not -- "Wait Wait" has a habit of finding some offbeat research studies -- but it's still fun...

No... I know for a fact that cats can forgive. I had an accidental face-kick to my former roommate's Siamese. Satin or, as I called her, Ki-Ki. She loved me best but one unfortunate day she jumped up on the bed right as I was swinging my leg off and collided mid-air and she flipped head over teakettle. She might have never forgiven me but I rushed and shut the door before she ran out, and eventually caught her and coaxed and begged her forgiveness 10000x and assured her it wasn't intentional... and eventually she forgave me. We were good again but it took a good hour or two.

Though they DO hold grudges mighty well. At least Sassy does. She *thinks* about things and how pissed off she is and ... "yeah... I am still pissed. I want to hurt her. I'm going to rip her arm off now!" Thankfully that only happened once, and a cold shower ended that.
