Chatting Do you enjoy chatting on A.FF? (Or away from the site with friends you met on A.FF?) Some people hate chatting. Others love it. I'm in the "Love it" boat, but I just ran across a profile "only here to chat, cam, nothing else". Part of me says "Yes! Absolutely perfect for me". But then again... I do love meeting people in real life, too. Deep down I still hope for that "click", somebody that matches in all the right ways to become "more". A lover, a relationship. Yes, I realize many of the people I'm friends with from this site are way too far away for a lazy Sunday afternoon cup of tea. But I love traveling, and you never know. I may just hop a plane and visit. Not too likely at the moment, but I've traveled before to meet people. The farthest I've gone is Egypt and I paid for that trip myself. It didn't go so wonderfully though. Got in a fight with the guy I was meeting on the first day, and spent the next 3 weeks trying to make things work but kept getting caught in the same circular arguments. One issue was that I was also meeting other male and female friends. He felt if I traveled to meet him I should ONLY see him. Me? I'm on vacation. I paid for it. I have other friends here too and may never pass this way again. I'm going to meet as many as possible, see as much as I can see (which wasn't as much as I'd have liked). This was actually the only trip I paid for myself. I also went to DC, and the guy I visited paid for it. He wrote it off as a business expense, aka my salary, because I did some work for him. I dug through his business website with a fine tooth comb and found everything that could be fixed. Broken links, poor grammar. Very impressive for somebody with English as his 3rd language but some things needed tweaked to look and sound professional. I've also been to Ohio, Toronto (Canada), um... I think that's it. These were paid by the other party as well as I had no travel fund. Just to mention: NONE of the above were A.FF friends (though I found one of them on this site much later lol). I've also traveled... hmm. AB: Congrats  You're the only person I traveled all on my own to visit semi-locally I've met A.FF travelers that happen to be in my city. And I've met many locals. Not for sex, but just to meet. A rare few made it to "more than platonic" levels of friendship. So, I love the *possibility* of meeting. It's not off the table. It's just the hidden Ace. (And no, I have no idea if that phrase makes any sense, but it sounded good). I do have travel plans for this year. May or may not be A.FF related. And travel hopes for other years. Ireland. London. Bermuda. Maine. A few cities around Washington. Las Vegas (this is only if I can find the place with a slide through a shark tank. Gotta try that). Minnesota. Essentially: if we chat, we get along well, then I'm all for the possibility of meeting face to face. Even though the chances are slim without winning the lotto jackpot all to myself. |

Thanks Actually I just put myself in his shoes lol. If somebody came to meet me in real life with romantic interest (regardless of who paid) then sprung it on me that he wanted to go meet all these other friends around town, including women, I'd probably be a bit bent out of shape as well. But if discussed first so it's not a total surprise would be different. But it also depends the depth of the relationship, who's sleeping where, etc. I try to make it clear now that when I visit: I'm visiting YOU. But I'm also going to make the most out of the visit. Meet other friends, site seeing, exploring, shopping, meeting with locals of whatever organizations I'm in. Seeing his life, showing off what I can of my likes and hobbies.

If you are ever in Toronto again, wave hello Its a great city and I'm a great tour guide I've been to quite a few other places too on various trips with friends and family. I love traveling, and I decided a month or so back that travel is going to be my lifeline. Forget Love: Travel instead. New life dream that doesn't require another person to participate lol.

He was hoping to marry me while I was there and had all sorts of things planned out and I threw wrenches, mountains (probably molehills in reality) and... well, my own stubborn Taurus nature into the mix. Independent American female used to getting her own way, (Independent?) Egyptian male used to getting his own way, plus he was a little pushy at times... and me? I don't do well with being pushed, bossed around, etc. It took 4 years but he finally apologized... and for all the right reasons. It was also my first ever trip overseas and I was half terrified by the time I arrived due to all the last minute warnings and horror stories people threw my way. Lessons learned I guess

Love chatting and meeting.... I've been lucky enough to have met three different bloggers from three different parts of the country for lunches, and certainly hope to meet more! I'd love to go overseas one day again soon!!

I was a chattin' fool for many years. Especially in the Mature Room here. Talked to lots of folks and actually met a few in real life. But the distance issues come up and we all just drift apart. I rarely visit that room anymore. No particular reason. I've just lost interest in chatting. How many times can you ask .. "How's the weather there?" LOL Oh ... thanks for the shout out. Shall I expect my award delivered in person .. or will you be FedEx'ing it to me?  AB No Bozos

I do enjoy the rare chats I have with people. Im sure my wierdness probably scares others off, but I dont care. I wish I had the chance to travel, but being a single dad of 3 pretty much kills that chance. Maybe someday. ... But I only lightly know you from the blogs and your profile. Plus I'm weird, so... my judgement may be cloudy haha.

So my roommate hooked me up with online chatting... I've been hooked since. But "live" chatting is best; message boards and FB not so much. Blogs are wonderful in a different way.

I've pretty much banned myself from chatting because I would just get too into it. It's just TOO GOOD of a "timewaster".  I will occasionally allow it but for most part I like being massively, artistically productive.  I WILL allow lots of real, face to face, "actually in the same physical room" chatting though. Just not the online type. insert exploding bomb image here
